Ellen Kirschman, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and consultant who has worked with public safety personnel, their agencies, and their families for over twenty years. She is the author of two books. "I Love a Cop: What Police Families Need to Know" and "I Love a Fire Fighter: What the Family Needs to Know" (2004). "I Love a Cop" was first published in 1997. A revised--post 9/11, post Katrina--edition was released in 2007. "I Love a Cop" has sold more than 85,000 copies and is used worldwide in police and spousal academies.

Dr. Kirschman is sought after as a speaker and workshop leader. She is co-founder of the acclaimed website, policefamilies.com. In 2000 she was named Woman of Distinction by the Police Chiefs Spouses Worldwide. In 2002, she completed the Greater Cincinnati Media Fire Academy.

Dr. Kirschman lives in Redwood City, California with her husband, who is a remodeling contractor.
